Shaking Reveals the Foundation

You Were Built For This Moment

Have you ever noticed that when everything around us feels uncertain, God has a beautiful way of reminding us what has always been certain?

We are living in a remarkable time. So much is changing around us, and it often seems to be happening all at once. Nations are shifting. Institutions are being tested. Technology is racing forward with extreme intelligence. Families are navigating pressures they never imagined, and many people are carrying questions about the future that they do not always say out loud.

Yet beneath all the noise, I sense Lord saying: You were built for this moment, return to what is solid.

When the world feels unstable, our instinct can be to search for something new to hold onto. But often, God draws us back to what He established centuries ago. He reminds us that His truth has not changed, His love has not weakened, and His purposes have not been shaken.

There may be uncertainty around us, friends, but God Himself is not uncertain. He has not lost His footing. His Kingdom is not trembling, and His plans have not slipped out of His hands.

And because of that, we do not have to live as though everything depends upon us holding it all together.

We can stand on the promises of God.

Coming Back to the Rock

Sometimes we become so focused on what God is going to do next that we forget to treasure what He has already established.

New seasons can be exciting. New doors can exciting. New beginnings can be exciting. But every new thing God builds must still rest upon the same eternal foundation.

Jesus Christ is not simply part of our lives. He is the foundation of our lives.

Jesus spoke of the wise person who “digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock” Luke 6:48 (NLT). When the floodwaters rose and the storm beat against that house, it stood firm because it had been well built.

I love that picture because Jesus did not say the storm would never come. He showed us how to build so that the storm would not have the final word. We build, we get ready and we stay ready.

That is such a comforting truth for today.

Our peace does not come from pretending that everything around us is predictable. Our peace comes from knowing Who is beneath us. We can look honestly at the world, acknowledge the challenges, pray with wisdom and still refuse to be ruled by fear.

When your feet are planted on the Rock, you do not have to panic every time the wind changes.

God Is Building With Living Stones

Peter gives us a beautiful picture when he writes, “And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple” 1 Peter 2:5 (NLT).

Living stones. Isn’t that wonderful?

Not identical stones. Not perfect stones. Living ones.

We come in different shapes, colors, personalities and backgrounds. We carry different stories, strengths, wounds, gifts and callings. Some people are highly visible, while others serve quietly in places few people ever notice.

But the Lord sees every stone even when some of the most important parts of a building are hidden. They carry weight and provide strength to everything above them.

I believe we must be careful in this hour not to overlook people simply because they do not look important by the world’s standards.

The person sitting beside you may be carrying an answer you have been praying for.

That quiet teenager may carry tremendous wisdom and creativity. That mother who feels unseen may be shaping a future leader. That employee who rarely speaks up may have the solution everyone has been searching for. The person rebuilding after heartbreak may someday carry extraordinary compassion for others who are hurting.

God has always had a way of seeing treasure where people see ordinary stones.

Look Again

I remember praying years ago about an office position that needed to be filled.

“Lord,” I said, “I need You to send someone.”

And I sensed the Holy Spirit respond very simply, “I already did.”

Well, that got my attention!

The person I needed was already nearby. I had been looking somewhere off in the distance when God had placed the answer right in front of me.

How many times do we do that?

We ask God for another connection, another resource, another leader, another opportunity or another solution, while perhaps He is lovingly saying, “Look again.”

We are in a beautiful season where revealing what has already been planted.

There may be gifts in people around us that have never been fully recognized. There may be dreams we thought were gone, but they were simply dormant. There may be ideas that seemed premature years ago but suddenly make sense now. There may be people who have faithfully served in hidden places who are about to discover why God spent so much time developing them there.

Sometimes the answer is not coming; it is already here, just waiting to be seen.

Hebrews tells us that Abraham “was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God” Hebrews 11:10 (NLT).

Abraham did not have every detail. He simply trusted God.

That is still a very good way to live.

Alignment Without Striving

Many people have experienced tremendous repositioning in recent seasons. Plans changed. Doors closed unexpectedly. Relationships shifted. Assignments ended. Some moved geographically, while others changed careers, churches, ministries or responsibilities.

There were moments when what felt like preparation looked more like interruption.

But I want to encourage you: hidden seasons are not wasted seasons.

Foundations are usually built underground.

We rarely admire a foundation because we rarely see it. Yet everything that eventually rises depends upon what was carefully established beneath the surface.

Before God builds higher, He often builds deeper.

Perhaps that helps explain some of what many have walked through. What felt slow may have been strengthening you. What felt hidden may have been protecting you. What felt like delay may have been preparation.

And now I sense many people beginning to find their footing again.

There is a realignment taking place, but it does not require anxiety or striving. We do not have to race one another into the future. We do not have to compete for position or push open doors God has not opened.

Stay close to Jesus. Stay teachable. Stay faithful with what He has already placed in your hands.

The Master Builder knows where every stone belongs.

The Gifts Are Still There

Sometimes gifts become dormant very early in life.

A child creates something beautiful and someone criticizes it. A young person dreams boldly and is told to be more realistic. Someone steps forward to lead, makes a mistake and quietly decides never to try again. A deeply compassionate person is wounded and begins guarding the very tenderness God intended to use.

Sometimes prophetic voices become quiet because they were misunderstood. Creativity gets buried beneath responsibility. Hope gets covered by disappointment. Years pass, and people begin to forget what once made them come alive.

But dormant does not mean gone.

The gifts are still in the house!

Perhaps part of what God is doing now is gently uncovering what disappointment, criticism, fear or comparison pushed down.

And perhaps we have a role in helping one another uncover those gifts.

What would happen if we became people who regularly called out the gold in one another? What if our homes were filled with encouragement? What if churches became places where people were equipped and released rather than compared and controlled? What if workplaces became places where overlooked people were intentionally given room to grow?

We never have to diminish someone else in order to fulfill our own calling.

There is room for every living stone.

Build Deep Before You Build High

The word I keep hearing is foundation.

A healthy foundation requires truth, humility, integrity, unity, prayer and love. It requires teachable hearts and a willingness to make adjustments before the structure becomes too high.

Character still matters. Kindness still matters. Integrity still matters. How we treat people who cannot promote us still matters.

And love matters tremendously.

There are nails in the foundation of our faith, friends. They remind us how Jesus chose to build His Kingdom, not through fear, domination or self-promotion, but through sacrificial love.

If we want to build something that lasts, our methods must look like Him.

Can You See What Is Beginning?

Isaiah records these beautiful words from the Lord: “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?” Isaiah 43:19 (NLT).

Perhaps that is the question for us today.

Can we see beyond the shaking?

Can we see the gifts being uncovered, the people being restored, the relationships being aligned and the quiet seeds beginning to break through the soil?

Something new does not always arrive with trumpets. Sometimes it begins quietly beneath the surface.

So stand steady, beloved.

You do not need to fear the future, and you do not need to chase it frantically either. Keep loving. Keep building. Keep encouraging. Keep noticing the living stones around you. Keep choosing faithfulness over frenzy, peace over panic and purpose over pressure.

The shaking does not get the final word.

The Divine Architect does.

And He is still building.

So onward and upward we go; not hurried, not fearful and not striving, but firmly grounded in His love and peacefully confident that the One who laid the foundation is faithful to complete what He has begun.

Key Takeaway: You were never called to panic in the shaking. You were called to stand on the Rock and to help others discover that they can stand there too. When the world feels uncertain, Jesus Christ is our sure foundation.
